Nos Primavera Sound – One of Europe’s Largest Music Events
In the same vein as Barcelona’s San Miguel Primavera Sound open-air festival, NOS Primavera Sound 2022 showcases a wide range of styles and new bands, highlighting both the local scene and long-established artists.
This year’s festivities will take place on a number of different stages. Additionally, All Tomorrow’s Parties, the British promoter behind namesake festivals organised in Australia, the UK and US will be having their very own ATP Stage that happens to be a highlight of the event.
And a vast urban park along the Atlantic coast called Parque da Cidade is where the Festival will be held.
Official Dates of the Event – 09th – 11th June 2022
Venue: Porto City Park, Porto, Portugal.

What Makes Nos Primavera Sound Popular?
NOS Primavera Sound is the younger sibling of Spain’s famed alternative music festival, which takes place each summer in Porto.
The festival invites the same musicians to perform as at the main Barcelona event, but in a more intimate location — the country’s largest urban park.
It is the ideal respite from the concrete of Barcelona’s Parc del Frum for people who want to experience the sound of Primavera Sound but don’t want to be surrounded by artificial structures.
This year’s NOS Primavera Sound Porto will go beyond the usual celebration to include a celebration of contemporary music in all its forms with an ambitious, diverse, and cross-genre line-up that will communicate in a variety of languages and soundscapes.
A History and Timeline of the Primavera Sound Festival
Between the end of May and the beginning of June each year, Barcelona’s Parc del Frum hosts the annual Primavera Sound music event. Poble Espanyol (venue) hosted the first edition of the Festival in 2001, before moving to the Parc del Frum in 2005 (a better venue with a seafront setting).
Musicians and fans of all generations have come together at Primavera Sound throughout the years, thanks to the festival’s urban setting and diverse roster of performers.
Did you know? Primavera Sound is one of Europe’s and the Mediterranean’s largest music events, drawing tens of thousands of revellers each year.
2012 saw the expansion of the festival to Porto as a result of its previous success. And this exciting new festival is held a week after the major event at the Parque da Cidade.
Los Angeles, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, and So Paulo are among the cities that will host brand new editions of the already popular Primavera Sound in 2022.
Another event that goes by the name Primavera Weekender, a significantly more intimate version of the event, has been held in Benidorm every November since 2019.
After every edition, the event has grown in both attendance numbers and media coverage: national newspaper, regional radio, and international television.
The inaugural edition in 2001 drew 8,000 attendees; by the most recent edition in 2019, the crowd had grown to 220,000.
So, you can imagine the number of people that will Travel to Portugal to attend the 2022 edition. It’s going to be a blast!
Line-up for NOS Primavera Sound 2022
NOS Primavera Sound wasn’t held in the previous 2 years due to the pandemic. However, the organisers of the event are looking to make up for the lost time by hosting a grand festival in 2022!
Primavera Sound Barcelona – Sant Adrià 2022 unveiled its lineup last week, and now the Portuguese festival has announced its 9th-anniversary line-up, which includes Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Beck, Little Simz, and Kim Go, as well as the resurrected Pavement and many other popular artists.
Currently, there are 61 musicians with 100% Primavera Sound hallmark that will join us on the long-awaited homecoming to Parque da Cidade, with more names to be unveiled in the coming weeks to round up the lineup.
