Overview

This Portugal Tourist Visa for Spouse is meant for a foreign spouse of a Portugal citizen, who is looking forward to travel to France for vacationing. It permits the foreign spouse to stay in France for a maximum period of 90 days in a 6 months period from the date of issuance of Visa.

Documents required

The prospective applicants of Tourist Spouse Visa for Portugal are required to produce & present mandate documents at the Embassy to ensure smooth & hassle free Visa acquisition.

Mentioned below is the list of documents required by the Portugal Embassy-

  1. Valid Passport

    Online Portugal Visa Applicants are required to present original passport & colored copy of the passport page that contains bio-details & photo of the applicant. Please note that the passport should be issued to the applicant in last 10 years & valid for a minimum of 3 months from the date of departure from Portugal. The passport should have at least 2 blank pages. The applicant should present copies of previous visas, if any.

  2. Recent Colored Photographs

    Portugal Visa Applicants are required to attach 2 colored passport-sized photographs to Portugal Visa Application Form. The photographs should be clear, sharply focused & taken on a white plain background. It must display applicant’s complete face. It should be recent & not older than 3 months.

  3. Portugal Visa Application Form

    A duly filled Portugal visa application form is the most critical part of Portugal Visa Application process. Travelers planning to apply for Portugal visa are required to fill all the 37 columns of the application form with due care. The declaration column mentioned in the form should be filled by the parents or guardians along with signatures in the required fields. It should be noted that any error/inaccurate information can render the application form invalid.

  4. UK Residence Permit

    Residents of UK that hold UK Residence Permit are required to acquire a Visa to Portugal prior traveling to Portugal. The UK Residence Permit (either stamped in the applicant’s passport or in the form of a bio-metric card) should be presented at the Embassy. Please note that Residence Permit should be valid for a minimum of 3 months (90 days) from the scheduled date of return from Portugal.

  5. Travel Itinerary

    The travel itinerary for Portugal Tourist Visa should cover the complete duration of stay in Portugal & other Schengen member states. The accommodation along with the dates of travel should be clearly defined at the Embassy.

    • Documents concerning Marital Status

      The documents confirming the marital status of the applicant are mentioned below. The original & copy of these documents should be presented at the Embassy.

      • A letter from the Spouse’s employer:

        It is an official letter that is presented by the spouse’s employer. The letter should bear spouse’s designation, salary details & date of joining of spouse in the organization. This letter should not be older than 3 months from the date of application.

      • Spouse’s Salary Slip for the last 3 months
      • Spouse’s Valid Passport
      • Marriage Certificate

        The applicant of Portugal Visit Visa for Spouse is required to present & submit a civil marriage certificate. It should be translated to English or Portuguese & certified by a relevant Embassy.

      • Official Translation of the Marriage Certificate
  6. Round-Trip Travel Reservation Documents

    The applicant of Portugal Tourist Visa should present reserved return travel tickets & all the travel documents at the Portugal Consulate on the appointment date. The travel documents should bear applicant’s name & accurate dates of travel to & from Portugal.

  7. Travel Insurance

    The applicant of the Portugal Tourist Visa is required to provide original document or copy of the travel insurance certificate at the Portugal Consulate. The presented insurance certificate should be-

    • Valid for all the Schengen Countries
    • Valid for DROM/CTOM as per your itinerary

    The travel insurance should have a minimum coverage of at least 30,000 EUR (which includes medical fees & repatriation costs).

  8. Proof of Accommodation

    The prospective applicant of Portugal Visa should present rental agreement or confirmed hotel bookings along with Portugal Visa Application form. The travel documents should have applicant’s details such as name, hotel’s address, contact details & intended dates of stay in Portugal & other countries of Schengen Zone.

    In case, a resident of Portugal (spouse in this case) is sponsoring applicant’s stay, then an original “Attestation Accursed” certificate should be presented at the Embassy. This letter should cover applicant’s complete duration of stay in Portugal (or other Schengen states).

    The original Attestation Accursed certificate should be issued by any Police Station or Town Hall in Portugal. Please note that the letters written by the host will not be accepted by the Embassy under any circumstances.

  9. Proof of Income/Sustenance

    The applicant of Portugal Holiday Visa for spouse should present proof of sufficient means of sustenance to support the entire stay in Portugal.

    These proofs may be Official UK bank Statement for the recent 3 months or a traveler’s cheque (in Euros).
